I was taking pictures of my dog while he was eating a bone and instead of getting a ravenous picture of a dog gnawing on his bone I got this picture. My dog looked up right as I snapped the picture. I caught this unbelievably sorrowful look. I think he was afraid I would take his bone from him. His red eyes make him look even more sad. His eyes were red because he has really sensitive skin and after he naps his skin turns red. Richard Avedon was known for capturing the emotions of his subjects. This picture of my dog makes me think of Richard Avedon. There is a little tint of yellow in this photo because I took it in a room with yellowish lighting against a beige carpet, the room was also a little dark. I wish I could make tint go away, but this was a one time shot. That is the difficult part of shooting live objects. I like photographing people, but finding volunteers is hard. I would take pictures of strangers more often, but I feel awkward and nosy when I do so I don't.
